The first ever Breakaway weekend took place at YHA Bryn Gwynant, North Wales on 17th-19th August.

A full programme of action adventure and team building activities took place over 2 days. Families and young people joined together from all over the country, and bonded straight away through their similar personal experiences of bowel and bladder diversions.

Despite the typical wet Welsh weather, everybody had great fun team building, walking and canoeing. The last night disco and party proved a massive success and a very fitting conclusion to a fantastic weekend.

Activities included canoeing, hill walking and gorge walking.

Accommodation was in comfortable rooms including many en-suites.

Dietary requirements were catered for.

There was support and advice from stoma nurses during the weekend.

Funding support was available.
